one of the largest and most popular floating markets among tourists. Also known as Klong Lat Phli Floating Market. Around 1866 King Rama IV ordered that a 32 kms long canal had to be created at Damnoen Saduak. This canal would connect the Mae Klong River with the Tacheen River. The excellent quality soil beside the canal is still very fertile and suitable for growing many kinds of fruits and vegetables. This is how and why the market developped. The area is famous for Malacca grape, Chinese grapefruit, mangoes, bananas, and coconut.
