Address The Thao Maha Brahma, or San Phra Phrom, more often called The Erawan Shrine was initially meant to be a ‘spirit house’ during the construction of the Erawan Hotel in 1953. The builders faced a number of problems and under the advice of a spiritual astrologer an image of Brahma ('Phra Phrom') replaced the spirit house. The Brahma statue was designed and built by the Department of Fine Arts. Within the Hindu trinity of supreme gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, Brahma is the Creator of the universe and all living beings. The deity has four heads and four arms and is believed to bestow good fortune and fulfill wishes. Construction problems ceased and visitors to the shrine experienced good fortune. Since than, the Shrine gained popularity. It's nowadays one of the most visited shrines of Bangkok. Buddhist Thai people normally wai to shrines when passing them. Description:

user experience

Just after arriving in Bangkok for three years, someone told me about this site with a lot of great tips and advices. The restaurant Spring has become our old time favorite! No problems getting there because the taxi driver took us straight there the first time. Surely, we would have never known about this place if it was not mentioned here. And the ‘too expensive’ and ‘discount please’ in Thai worked very well at Chatuchak Weekend Market; I got a some good bargains. Great site, my compliments!
